Clinical trial

Eggshell membrane has been studied in various trials. In general a reduction of inflammation is observed in laboratory studies, whereas effects on cartilage composition, pain relief and improvement of joint stiffness already from day 7 to 10 have been described for both animals and humans.
Eggbrane® has been tested in a large randomised, double-blind, placebo controlled study in 150 human volunteers suffering from osteoarthritis. During 12 weeks, subjects received a daily capsule containing either 300 mg of Eggbrane® or a placebo. Eggbrane® relieved self-reported pain scores starting 1 week after initiation of treatment. This effect was significant for two of five category scores, that is, “Pain” and “Daily Life” functioning. These scores showed long-lasting improvement, and demonstrated that Eggbrane® successfully reliefs knee osteoarthritis pain and contributes to daily life functioning.
